Biking Around

Today, Dr. Barr and I had a super fun day riding a bicycle around the city of Vienna. We got to see so many amazing sites, but first you must see how adorable I look on the bicycle. 

Our first stop was at the Danube River, which is the 2nd longest river in Europe. 

From the bridge we could see a huge church called, "St. Francis of Assisi Church." It is also known as the Mexico Church. 

We also stopped by a church called, "The Jesuit Church," which was build between 1623 and 1627. Can you see the dome in the ceiling?

Dr. Barr thought it was a dome, but it is not! It is an optical illusion done with paint to make you think there is a dome!

We then passed by the Austrian Parliament building. This is where elected officials meet to make laws to help the citizens of Austria.

The next set of buildings are very different from the parliament building. The Hundertwasser House has lots of unique colors and shaped windows. 

Dr. Barr was quick to notice the name of this cafe. It's a little hard to read.

We finished our trip with a picture of Horst, our very helpful tour guide. I let him hold me because he said he was a fan!

After our tour around the city, I had a yummy meal with Dr. Barr and her friends. 

It was such a busy day that I got  into my pajamas, had Dr. Barr read me a story and sing me a song, and went to sleep. I'm not sure where we are going tomorrow, but Dr. Barr is super excited! 

Around Town

First, it is important to know that in the summer months, I am usually a dog that is comfortable in my dog house or inside an air conditioned home. Here in Austria, it is hot. In fact, there is a heat wave and it is very, very, hot! But Dr. Barr and I found ways to cool off. 

Our day started with a virtual reality time travel show. We got to wear special glasses.

Inside the show, we also saw a wax figure of the famous Austrian musician, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Dr. Barr really liked this part since we got to hear some of Mozart's beautiful piano music.

After the show, we traveled to one of Vienna, Austria's, famous art museums. Dr. Barr thought it would be funny if I helped her do a little scene from the movie, "The Lion King." I played the part of Simba from one of the museum's balconies.

Dr. Barr and I toured the museum with Ms. Cecchino, a high school art history teacher. She taught us that many of the white marble statues we see were once very colorful. The paint faded or disappeared completely over time. Here is an example:

After all our learning, we were hungry and shared rainbow dumplings and lemon gelato. Everything was delicious.

We started walking to a nearby park, when I saw a surprise statue! Do you know who it is? The big treble clef might give you a clue.

When it was time for dinner, Dr. Barr was too hot and tired to hold me, so she made me hold on to the bus handle all by myself. I am super strong. 

Finally, we reached a lovely outdoor restaurant for dinner. Dr. Barr sat with her friends, and I met a new friend, too. He even shared his water. 

I need to get some sleep. Dr. Barr said we are going on a bike ride around the city tomorrow. I think I may wear my hoodie again. 

Visiting Famous Homes

Today, was a big day. We started bright and early by touring Schönbrunn Palace. This is where Austrian's royal family, The Habsburgs, lived. It is also where the composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, performed a concert with his sister when he was only six years old.

After the palace visit, I was hungry. Dr. Barr and I went to a cute cafe and had a traditional Austrian meal called "weiner snitzel." It tastes like a very flat and large chicken nugget. 

We finished our day by visiting the only remaining house where Mozart lived in Vienna. 

His family lived on the second floor.

Dr. Barr said her feet hurt from walking so much. But we both can't wait till tomorrow. 

Welcome to Austria, Snoopy!

After a few hours of sleep, the pilot announced that we arrived in Paris to ride on our final flight to Austria. Because I had the window seat, I caught a glimpse of the famous Eiffel Tower. 

Then, we slept for the final two hour flight into Vienna, Austria.

After we landed, we took a train to the hotel before meeting our new friends for a bus tour around Vienna. 

Dr. Barr took me to a beautiful Asian restaurant for dinner with her friends.

The food was yummy, but they had a waving cat in the window. I don't particularly like cats. The owner said it was a maneki-neko, or a lucky cat. It is placed in businesses to bring good luck to the owner. 

Dr. Barr is really sleepy, so we are going to go rest up for our trip to a palace tomorrow! Dr. Barr said a very famous musician played at the palace when they were only 6 years old. I can't wait to find out who! 

We are flying!

After a good night's sleep, Dr. Barr and I are back at the airport. We have an airplane with no diapers clogging the pottys and are ready to go. I'm excited to be flying above the clouds again. 

Dr. Barr let me have the window seat.

We are in the air! Look at how small the buildings are. 

Ahhhhh! I'm inside a cloud!

Now, the plane is above the clouds. They look like cotton candy.

Dinner time! I got my own little dish of food. Dr. Barr had buttered chicken with cilantro rice and veggies. She really liked it. The lemon cookie was her favorite. 

It's dark outside. We got our neck pillows out and my sleep mask. When we wake up, we'll be landing in Paris. Then we have a short plane ride to Austria!

Flight Delayed!

Well, someone flushed a diaper down the airplane potty! Now Dr. Barr and I have to wait for another flight. We are sad.

I told Delta that I'm a pilot, but there are no Sopwith Camels available for me to fly.

Dr. Barr went to eat with her friends, so I'm napping till our next flight is ready. (Update: Flying out Thursday night!) 

Packing is exhausting!

Dr. Barr and I have been packing all day! She got me my very own suitcase. Look carefully and you might get a clue as to some of my upcoming adventures!
